The Osechi dishes are prepared to last for several days and beautifully arranged in “Jubako”, meaning “Stacked Box”. Each item has a symbolic meaning to celebrate the coming year.
This year at KAI, we will be preparing up to 20 Osechi Boxes at $400 per box which will be reservation only, first- come first serve basis. To reserve, call 212.988.7277. The Osechi will be ready for pick up on Thursday, December 31st, New Year's Eve.

Kazunoko (Herring Roe) = Fertility
Kuri Kinton (Chestnut with Mashed Sweet Potato) = Prosperity
Kuromame (Sweetened Black Beans) “Mame” = Good Health
Subana Renkon (Lotus Root in Sweet Vinegar) = Great Perspective
Kobu Maki (Kelp Roll) = Happiness
Tamago Datemaki (Seasoned Egg Roll) = Knowledge
Red & White Kamaboko (Fishcake) = Festivity (Red & White are auspicious colors in Japan)
Satoimo (Simmered Taro Potato) = To Be Blessed With Many Children
